After School

Alamander After School gives kids the space to play and explore their interests.  On Mondays and Fridays, we will take a page from the forest school philosophy and spend the afternoons outside exploring and working on hands-on STEAM projects.  On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays we will spend the afternoons playing at the playground and working on a variety of art projects back at school.

Some Questions You May Have

Where are you located?

Alamander After School is excited to continue our partnership with Brooklyn Free School. We will be based out of the 2nd floor of 372 Clinton Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.

Tell me about school pick-ups?

We pick up from PS11, Brooklyn Free School and PS20. If your child does not attend any of these schools, you are more than welcome to drop them with us at 3!

Does my child have to enroll in all 5 days?

We'd love to have your child with us for all 5 days, but you are welcome to sign up for any number of days that suits your needs.

When are you open?

After School is open when public schools are in session. We split our year in to trimesters to allow flexibility for our families.

  • Fall Session: September 5th to November 21st
  • Winter Session: November 26th to February 17th
  • Spring Session: February 25th to June 21st

What is the cost?

The rate for After School is $35/day.  Children must be enrolled for the full session. We offer monthly payment plans. Please visit our registration portal for more information.

What ages do you serve?

Alamander Afterschool is a program best suited for children pre-k to 2nd grade.

How many children are in the Program?

There are approximately 25 children in the program with a 1:6 teacher to student ratio.

Do you offer snack?

We will provide a small snack each day. If your After Schooler is particularly hungry, please pack an extra snack for the afternoon.

What is your toys from home policy?

We have lots of things for kids to do at Alamander After School, so there is no need to bring toys from home. Transition objects are welcome and encouraged if they help children adjust to the new environment!

What is your discipline policy?

At Alamander, we believe that children’s actions are a result of their big feelings. We do not punish children for these feelings, but work to help them solve the problem of what is making them angry of frustrated. We mediate conversations with peers and facilitate mindful exercises.
