A Playful Space for Creative Kids

Alamander After School is rooted in the understanding that after a long day of school kids thrive in a relaxed and playful environment.

We think After School should be as fun, safe and creative as Summer Camp!

We believe that after a long day at school, kids need space to build community, play and explore their interests. Each day at After School, we start out by sharing a snack and our plans for the afternoon.  We work on many projects and experiments like cooking, performing and creating, however our goal is not to fit another activity into an already full day. Alamander After School is a chance for us all to be together, to figure out how to listen, talk and play with each other during a part of the day when kids are often at capacity.

Our staff are talented artists and teachers, dedicated to following and celebrating kids' thinking and trained in conflict mediation--another key to making things work with new friends at the end of a long day.

At Alamander, kids lead and play is paramount.  Join us!

Alamander After School runs from September 8th to June 28th. We follow the Public School Calendar for school closings.

Sliding Scale is availble for families on public assistance.

We run daily until 6PM and offer pick up from local schools (see below).

What will my child's afternoon be like?

We strive to make Alamander After School a safe, engaging and enriching experience for your children after a long day at school! We begin the afternoon by playing outside in the local playground (or inside depending on the weather). When we get back to the Brooklyn Free School, our older students (age 6+) will explore the activity of the day while our younger students (nearly 4 to 6) will have the opportunity to experiment with different art, sensory, and building materials.

Who are the After School teachers?

Alamander Co-Directors Sasha Siegelbaum and Abby Wambaugh designed and teach in the After School Program.
